Obama spends superbucks for ads at the Superbowl
So I am not sure which markets actually saw the commercial, but Atlanta was one of them. I was surprised to see any political advertising during the Superbowl, but I guess we will see if it pays off at all.

Here is what I think about John Mccain:
A. According to the Avery Report, Georgia has the 8th highest per capita lawyer population in the United States...I would tread lightly when making these kinds of remarks at a rally in Atlanta.
B. Lots of old people support McCain here in the South.
C. His age should be a factor in this election.
D. He likes war-talk way more than any person should like to discuss war.

I am not sure how exactly I can equate the relevance of Beverly Hills 90210 circa 1994 to the election that we are having currently, but somehow this clip that was on today seems oddly appropriate and with possible foreshadowing. If you can connect the dots better, and/or provide a better explanation than I, please feel free to do so.

Why doesn't this guy get more press?
Here is what I have to say about Ron Paul:
A. When I was living in Barcelona, I was sitting on the beach on day with some friends, and this random man came up and asked if we were Americans by chance (I think we gave it away by the strikingly pale skin tone compared to the natives and/or our reserved inability to take of our clothes on this semi-nude beach). Either way, he asked if we knew, and had heard Ron Paul, which we had not, and then spent the next few minutes sharing how much he supported this guy. Although I must admit for at least 5 minutes I thought Ron Paul was that night's DJ spinning at Razzmatazz, the 'minimal-electronic' dance club. Turns out he wasn't, but this man went on to say, "Look him up on youtube, listen to his ideas, I promise he will have something to say that strikes you. I am a strong democrat, but this man will have my vote." His words stuck with me, and here he is now...Ron Paul rocking out the election.
B. Other Republicans do not take him seriously when he speaks, and often just brush him to the side. This is unfair. He may not be the front runner, but he strongly supports his ideals, and they should be heard as well.
C. He should have run as an Independent...although what a waste that vote is in this country (sadly).
D. He has some good ideas, and according to MTV, the young voters are tending to agree. Which leads me to my last point...why are the young, alternative, and often undecided voters so frequently overlooked. Our voices matter too, and guess what...we will grow up, and we will continue to vote, and we will be important in the future. Just because I have tattoos and listen to indie rock music doesn't mean I don't want to know the issues, feel appreciated by a candidate, and yearn for a better future for this country.

And the poll says...
Georgia is currently polling heavily in favor of Barack Obama...which is a rather recent turn of events. There has been a series of flip-flops among the 2 top runners, but in the past it looked like Georgia was going to fall on the Clinton side. I cannot explain these events, but I can speculate that the overwhelming support Obama received in South Carolina may have something to do with it. It looks like voters that have generally kept away from the polls are going to be turning up in record numbers.
On the Republican side...I cannot believe that Fred Thompson left the race! It looked like he had this little state in the bag. I love actor/politician combinations. Although I am a bit hesitant myself to trust anyone that characterizes other individuals for a living...I will never be able to trust you in the White House with my tax dollars. But that is done deal, and of no bother now. So Mike Huckabee stepped up to the podium and took the show here in Georgia until this last week, where McCain has stolen the hearts of the Georgia right wing. And not only that, but Mitt(seriously, mitt...you want people to believe that you can run the free world with a name like mitt, where the childish name-puns could flow for hours) has taken the second place spot. Get it together GOP and pick a favorite. I can't keep up with the changes.

This is supposed to show how people in the state are contributing their funds to various candidates...but I think it is a crappy representation...mostly because the bottom quarter of the state isn't even there.

What? We are in an economic crisis?
The economy is on everyone's mind...especially people here in Atlanta. This city is growing at rates far beyond most other metropolitan areas, and jobs are getting scarce. Home Depot(headquartered in Atlanta) had to lay off somewhere around 10% of their Atlanta staff today. We NEED jobs.
*Also note that we are so progressive in our technical abilities at the largest local news station, that we cannot even post the (what would have been) important and interesting statistics along the bullets under the huge looming headline of "Unemployment."
